Competition Rules



General Information

1.     A full school group consists of from five (5) to ten (10) students. Partial groups are welcome.
2.     The students in each school group may enter at most five (5) individual events with one or two students in each event.
3.     Each school may enter two complete groups.
4.     Each school group competes as a separate entity. Scores for each group are tallied separately.

Individual Events

1.   The 13 individual events will run simultaneously in different classrooms at CLHS.
2.   Each team may enter at most five (5) individual events with one or two students in each event.
3.   A student that has competed in a particular event in a prior year should be entered in a different event this year.
4.   Students may practice for their event but may not bring any materials (except as noted) to the competition site.
5.   Most of these events will be held in classrooms where space for observers is limited.
6.   Points will be earned for the top five individual teams.

Team Events

1.     Each school should choose two to four students to participate in the “Math/Science Quiz” event. These students are to be chosen from among those participating in the individual events.
2.     Each group should choose two or three students to participate in the “Pictures Only” event. These students are to be chosen from among those participating in the individual events.
3.     Each group should choose one to three students to participate in the “Metric Olympics” event. These students are to be chosen from among those participating in the individual events.
4.     The team events will run simultaneously.
5.     Paper and pencils will be provided.
6.     Note that space limitations will limit the number of participants to one team from each school in each team event.
7.     There will be adequate space for teachers, parents and friends to observe the team competitions.
8.     First place score equals double the number of groups participating in the evening’s activities. Two fewer points for each successive place.

Overall

1.              The overall winner will be determined by summing the scores for each group in each aspect of the individual and team competitions.
